Dear NCPCF Supporter,

We’re writing you on behalf of the National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms whose mission is to educate the public about the erosion of civil and political freedoms in the society, and the abuses of prisoners within the U.S. criminal justice system especially after 9/11, and to advocate for the preservation of those freedoms and to defend those rights according to the U.S. Constitution, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its related UN Conventions, and the Geneva Conventions.

It is indisputable that many individuals, including dozens of American Muslims, have been the victims of government prosecutorial overreach and pre-emptive prosecutions based on thought crimes, entrapment, and manufactured charges.  As a result of such abusive government practices, families have been torn apart and the fabric of their lives and communities destroyed.  Families have been suffering in isolation and often times alienated from their own local communities.

As a part of our work at NCPCF, we hold conference for families of prisoners to support and empower those directly targeted by the government. We provide affected families, comprised mostly women and children, with support groups, counseling, social justice and media workshops, and a collective space for networking and healing.  We focus on building communication capacity and power of affected families impacted by government abuse of power within our collective experiences to address the overall criminal justice system and Islamophobia.

This is what a teenager had to say about our first families of prisoner conference last year:“When I first met you I figured that you were like the other organizations who would come up in my life when they need information but they would disappear afterward. You showed me otherwise, you checked in and you were supportive. I felt welcomed and as if I wasn’t alone. Then you had this amazing idea of a get together with the families and it felt amazing. From the moment when I walked off the plane I felt like the weekend was going to change me and it was going to be a positive one, and I haven’t had a reason to smile for a while but that weekend I did. When I started getting to know other people and I saw that I was not alone and I was no longer forgotten.”

In January 2014 we hope to hold our third families of prisoner gathering and invite affected families, activists and community members from across the country. We need to raise $15,000. We would greatly appreciate your financial donations so we can organize this very important gathering for affected families.  Your contribution of any amount between $50-$5,000 would greatly help the Prisoner and Family Conference reach their goal in time for our conference in January 10-12, 2014.

If 120 people each contribute $125 in this season of giving we will reach our goal. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter about the Families of Prisoner Conference of NCPCF. We hope you consider making a donation. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact us via email at prisoners@civilfreedoms.org  or visit our website www.civilfreedoms.org

In short, NCPCF is seeking the generosity of 120 individuals, who are willing to donate $125 each to traumatized family members, so NCPCF can fly them to the families conference to receive counseling, spiritual healing, and social support.

In the next 10 days kindly send your generous donations by December 31, either through the NCPCF PayPal account at the right hand corner of the NCPCF website: www.civilfreedoms.org or send your check to: NCPCF, Families Conference, P.O. Box 66301, Washington, DC 20035.

When you make a donation please email us at donate@civilfreedoms.org and tell us that you have sent a donation either through PayPal or by a check.

Help us publicize and advertise this appeal on the social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you very much for your generosity and concern.
